It is crucial that an individual gets good nights sleep. In order to do so, good bedtime habits must be formed. Follow these tips to help you feel and sleep better:
   
 

» Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday

 

» Exercise on a regular basis, but finish at least 4 hours before you sleep

 

» Before you sleep, keep your bedroom cool, quiet and dark

 

» Try to avoid taking naps during the day

 

» If you cannot fall asleep within 25 minutes, get out of bed and perform an
   activity that relaxes you. Perform this activity outside of your bedroom

 

» Avoid any sort of caffeine at least 6 hours before bedtime

  » Use your bed only for sleeping. Do not perform any other activities, such
   as reading, playing cards or talking on the phone
 

» Do not go try to sleep when your stomach is too full or you are hungry

 

» Avoid any source of nicotine before bed

 

» If you have a sleeping partner, ask if he/she notices any snoring, pauses
  of breath or legs movements during sleep. These are key indications that
  you may have a sleep disorder.
